Palmie's got Preacher Talent!
How many ways are there of preaching on a bible text? At least ten if you go by the well prepared efforts of Paul Windsor’s protégés.
Following his recent course on preaching attended by seventy-five people from lower North Island, ten local students came back as an Emmaus assignment to preach on Colossians 1: 28,29. Each student spoke for ten minutes and then participated in a critique by the panel of judges and the supporting audience. Four of the students, Vickas Gaur, Stephen McIvor, Margie Dennis and Brendan Dale were nominated for their messages to go on to Paul Windsor (not present) for a further critique.
It was fascinating how each person brought their own experience and testimony to the text so that the whole exercise was a joy to hear. The participants will all feel encouraged to push on in this particular ministry and for some it was a recognition of significant gifting.
Local churches will be advised of their students efforts so that the students may possibly be heard a second time. Thanks go to Nigel Dixon, Sylvia Purdie, Andrew Lim and Steve Jourdain for offering their preaching experience to the students. Emmaus will be hoping to continue this sort of support within the local church.
