COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID-19 UPDATE (23.09.22)

New Zealand has now removed all Traffic light system restrictions. Emmaus face-to-face classes will continue to run at All Saints Community Centre as usual. Term 4 classes resume in late October. You are welcome to continue to wear a mask if that is your preference. Thank you for your patience and compliance during this difficult time and season.

COVID-19 UPDATE (20.04.22) Orange Setting

Emmaus face-to-face classes will continue to run at All Saints Community Centre as usual. We hope to offer both Tuesday and Thursday programmes via zoom link for those who may not be able to get to class. The zoom link will be sent to you each week.

Emmaus Covid procedures as at 1 March 2022:

If you or a person in your household tests positive for Covid, DO NOT come to Emmaus classes, but follow the self-isolation period as required on the Covid 19 website. You can  join the class from your home via the Zoom link we will send you separately.

If you have been at a location of interest or have been in contact with a person with Covid, government regulations now do not require you to self-isolate, just to monitor for any symptoms. You CAN come to class at Emmaus, but we do ask you to wear a mask and practice social distancing, for the benefit of your classmates.

If you have not been in any known contact with a Covid location or a person with Covid, you can keep coming to class as usual. While you are not required to wear a mask when we are the only group in the building, we do encourage people to consider wearing masks anyway, again as a protection for yourself and others.

If you are feeling unwell with cold or flu-like symptoms, please do not come to class but check the Covid 19 website to see if you need to get a Covid test.

We will be offering supper again, and making a selection of library books available in the foyer during our supper break. We just ask you to sanitise hands before and after handling the books and eating the food! 🙂

And please, if you have any questions or concerns, do get in touch with Pauline or Jan.

Let’s not stop meeting together, but continue on doing so, as far as we are able!

Blessings, Pauline Simonsen, Emmaus Dean

COVID-19 UPDATE (03.02.22) - Vaccine pass information

Emmaus meets as a faith-based gathering under Covid red light level. We do not require a vaccine pass, and all are welcome.

We need to comply with health regulations under the red light system, which means everyone must wear masks, scan in or complete the entry register at All Saints, and socially distance. Students will be seated 1 m apart. Facilities will be cleaned after classes.

COVID-19 UPDATE (21.01.22)

No vaccine pass required at Emmaus classes. Please observe the usual health precautions at traffic light orange: wear a mask, 1m social distancing and sign in.

COVID-19 UPDATE (17.08.21)

Following the governments announcement tonight for the country to go into level 4 lockdown our Tuesday night classes (TONIGHT ONLY) have been cancelled. More information will come as we find out if this lock down will be extended. Please watch this space for Thursdays Intern/Block course information.

COVID-19 UPDATE (01.03.21)

Following the government's call on Saturday 27 February to move our region to Covid level 2, we've made the following decision:

Tuesday 2 March 2021

  • Andrew Lim’s Tuesday night Footsteps class - Amos & Jonah will go to a ZOOM CLASS

  • Pauline Simonsen’s Tuesday night Footsteps class - New Testament Overview will meet FACE TO FACE as normal at All Saints

Thursday 4 March 2021

Intern & Block course students will meet FACE TO FACE as normal on Thursday morning 9.30am

You will receive an invitation to a zoom meeting on Tuesday 2 March. This will have attached the notes for the session also.

Our hope is that we will be able to resume as normal next week on Tuesday 9th March 2021.

We are taking this precaution for a number of reasons, but primarily to protect those in the classes who are immuno-compromised. It will be difficult to keep a class of 20+ students socially distanced!

As usual, these classes will be recorded and available on the Dropbox link for those who can’t make the class. If you have any questions please contact Jan at admin@emmaus.net.nz

COVID-19 UPDATE (15.02.21)

Following the government's call on Sunday 14 February to move our region to Covid level 2, we've made the decision to CANCEL our Emmaus Tuesday night Footsteps classes for this week only, 16 February. Thursday Internship and Block course will run Thursday 18 February as normal.

Our hope is that we will be able to resume as normal next week on Tuesday 23rd February.

We are taking this precaution for a number of reasons, but primarily to protect those in the classes who are immuno-compromised. It will be difficult to keep a class of 20+ students socially distanced!

Our plan is to add an extra week to the courses, meaning we will now finish our Tuesday night term on Easter Tuesday, April 6.

As usual, that class will be recorded and available on the Dropbox link for those who can’t make that night.

COVID-19 UPDATE (12.08.20) - Emmaus classes continue face to face at alert level 2

At this stage with the Manawatu in alert level two, Emmaus classes in all programmes will continue to run as normal, face-to-face at All Saints Community Centre.

There will be increased spacing of tables to maintain social distancing, and sanitiser and masks will be available.
Self serve hot drinks will be available, but no food will be shared.

If you are feeling unwell, or if you are immunity-compromised, please stay home and access the recorded lectures and notes in Dropbox as usual.

If our region is moved to an higher alert level, Emmaus will post a new notification.

Please contact the Emmaus Dean or Administrator if you have any questions or concerns.

Stay safe and stay well!

COVID-19 UPDATE (14.04.20)

Unfortunately we are still unable to meet together, but we have decided to run all three of our Term 2 courses via Zoom.

We’ve had great success running the Lockdown Learning courses on this forum so have decided to continue on!

Join us for Walking With Giants on Tuesday nights, Kairos on Wednesday nights or Exploring Spiritual Faith on Thursday mornings.

COVID-19 UPDATE (27.03.20)

We have decided to run a 4 week interactive online course during the lockdown period.

Journey with Emmaus through the book of Philippians over the 4-week lockdown period.

We will be using the online Zoom classroom app - it’s free and easy to use for first-timers – we’ll meet face-to-face in a virtual classroom every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 9:30pm.

Pauline Simonsen will lead us through Paul’s letter about joy in difficult times. All you’ll need is a computer with broadband internet access, a bible, cup of coffee and your smiling face!

Course starts NEXT TUESDAY 31 March, $48 for 4 weeks. Click here to enrol!

COVID-19 UPDATE (24.03.20)

All Term 1 face to face classes are now cancelled.

Due to government regulations concerning COVID-19, all Emmaus face-to-face classes are cancelled, effective immediately.

We have also had to cancel our Discovery Seminars with Ravi David due to travel restrictions.

Our Emmaus Library will be closed until the lockdown restrictions have been lifted.

Contact us for more information about accessing audios and notes of your current courses.

COVID-19 UPDATE (17.03.20)

Emmaus classes are still on!

The coronavirus disease is spreading and circumstances are changing rapidly. Emmaus encourages you to rely on the information updates provided by public health officials, and to follow all government measures carefully. For public health information, go to https://www.health.govt.nz/…/dis…/covid-19-novel-coronavirus .

In response to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Emmaus team offers the following recommendations in regard to Emmaus gatherings.

At this stage (17/3/2020), there is no need to cancel Emmaus classes as our numbers are below the current threshold for cancellation. If the government issues further restrictions on gatherings, we will inform you by email and Facebook notice, or you can contact us directly at admin@emmaus.net.nz or 021 119 6103.

But currently all classes are STILL RUNNING. The exception is our 2 Saturday seminars which unfortunately are cancelled until further notice due to Ravi David travelling from overseas.

Nevertheless, we ask that each person attending the classes uses responsible hygiene practises. COVID-19 is transmitted via droplets (ie through fluids transmitted when people cough and sneeze) and through contact with hands and objects contaminated by these droplets. At this stage it is wiser to avoid physical contact with other people, especially using hands. Please cough into elbows or tissues (and then dispose of the tissue immediately).

Emmaus encourages people suffering from respiratory symptoms to stay home, or if symptoms are mild, to practice social distancing (staying at least 1 metre from others and avoiding crowded places). If you would prefer to wear a sanitary mask in classes please feel free to do so.

Emmaus precautions

Our Emmaus team will also follow responsible hygiene practises as we serve you, whether as your teachers or support staff. All Saints Parish, our venue hosts, provide well-equipped toilets and kitchen for us to use, with hand basins, soap and hand sanitiser available, plus a steriliser to wash all utensils.

All our lectures are recorded and available on Dropbox for enrolled students, along with course notes. If you find you are unable to attend the classes, you will be able to follow the class remotely using these resources. In the event that all gatherings are no longer permitted, we will look at offering lectures remotely in the same way.

We hope and pray that these measures are not needed. And we invite you to join with Christians everywhere to pray that the virus may be contained in New Zealand and abroad.
